My TY Diary - Merry Christmas!

Week 18

This week was the week of our Christmas exams and the start of the Christmas holidays. We always have our Christmas Exams the week before Christmas Day so this year, they started on December 15th (Monday) and we got our holidays on the 19th of December (Friday). They started on Monday at 1.20 with French. Then on Tuesday we had Religion from 9.15 to 10.45 and English from 1.20 to 2.55. Then Wednesday was a day off. The class went to Elf the Musical in the Bord Gais Theatre but unfortunately I was really sick that day with a tummy bug so couldn't go. The class said it was a great day and that the show was very good. On the Thursday, I was still a bit sick but felt much better so went into school for my Maths exam at 9.15 to 10.45 and then my final exam was Irish from 1.20 until 2.55. It was then Christmas Holiday's and everybody went home. The other years all had to come in on that Friday and then they got off. I think the exams went well and weren't that hard. We will get the results in he New Year when we go back!

         Until Then,

                       Bye :)

My TY Diary - Fashion Show

Week 15

This week has been a very busy and exciting week. We had the St. Wolstans Fashion Show in The Celbridge Manor Hotel on Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th. We were all busy on Monday, practising and getting the costumes and clothes ready for the opening night. I was in the ballet dance. We were dancing to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking out Loud’. It was a great dance but I was really nervous because we had to do it in our pointe shoes and I had never done a pointe dance before so I, as well as the other younger girls in the group were really scared but I think it was a great success. We wore our black leotards with little pink chiffon skirts over. Ms. Hughes, the Home Ec. teacher very kindly made them for us. On the second night, I think we all had more confidence but just before we were going on, I was putting on my shoes and one of the ribbon just came out in my hand, so we tried to find a sewing kit to sew it back on but we didn’t have time so one of the girls had a safety pin and Ms. Hughes came and pinned it tightly back on my shoe. That made me a little bit nervous but it was fine. Overall, I think the show was a great success. It was full on both nights. Even the teacher did a bit on modelling and dancing! A lot of hard work and determination was put into it but it turned out really well and all I’ve heard were positive comments about the night. The clothes were very well chosen, the music was new and catchy and the entertainment was very funny and enjoyable. I really enjoyed the experience and if we would do one again, I would definitely do it again and maybe model too!

My TY Diary - Carton House 'Vanishing Art'

Week 13

The thirteenth week of TY. This week we had a few different things on.
On Monday, we had double art, and I finished my oil pastel drawing. I thought it was quite hard to blend all of the different colours together, but after a while I got used to it and I'm happy with the finished result.
On Tuesday, we all went out to an art exhibition called 'Vanishing Art' in Carton House. We all got on the bus. Carton House is only ten minutes away so straight after lunch we left. On our arrival, we were brought into a small room with the smaller pieces of more fragile art. We looked around there and filled out some sheets we had gotten off of our teacher. Then everybody split up. When we were finished in the room, I went outside with my friends to have a look. The bigger exhibits were outside, including a big eagle hanging from a tree and also a hot pink dinosaur. There was a big white sculpture which everybody had different opinions about it but I thought it looked like a big tooth.

While we were walking around we came across some girls from out year gesturing madly for us to go the other way, so naturally, we didn't and walked towards them. As we looked right, we saw the Irish Rugby Team training. We were all shocked. We just stood there and then a crowd of our year started to gather around. Some of the girls, who were walking the other way, met them outside the other door and got autographs. Everybody was really happy and chirpy on the way home and in a good mood.
On Wednesday, we had work experience as usual. I did my tasks and helped customers for the day. I was really tired when I went home. Thursday and Friday were normal as usual, with our usual classes. Next week, I have two assignments due, one for History and one for Irish. I will have work experience on Wednesday as well and on Friday I will be cooking Thai Green Curry in Home Economics.
Thats all for this week, until next time, Thanks for reading and Bye :).
